Does my central heating system need a Power Flush?
If your central heating system has any of the following symptoms, it probably needs a POWER FLUSH:
- Radiator water is dirty
- System is slow to heat up
- Radiators need frequent bleeding
- Boiler failure or lockout
- Boiler noise
- Pump failure
- Pump noise
- Some radiators are partially or completely cold
- Blocked radiators
- Pinhole leaks from radiators
It is recommended that a system is flushed prior to fitting a new boiler, some manufacturers insist they are carried out as part of their warranty policies.
The Benefits of Power Flushing
The result of power flushing is that the boiler and the rest of the central heating system become more efficient. This basically occurs because there is better circulation through the system and the boiler doesn’t have to work as hard to warm the house and water. Therefore the overall result is that you save money on your gas bills.
Conclusion
Is power flushing worth it? It depends on how badly affected your heating system is. If the whole system is showing signs of bad circulation or you notice more than one of the signs above then a power flush will probably be worth the money you pay. If, however, only a few radiators are suffering from cold spots then it will posiibly be much quicker and cheaper to take the radiators off the wall and flush them separately.
